Thaiphoon on a Rainy Thursday Evening

We visited my brother in Virginia and planned on dinner in DC. However, we had two things counting against us: heavy rain and lack of parking. As a last-minute solution to both, my brother took us to the mall at Pentagon City in Arlington (covered parking was the cure-all) and we settled on Thaiphoon after scanning the other options. It was actually a nice discovery, reminiscent of the restaurants at Greenbelt mall in the Philippines.

We ate family style, a random selection of apps and entrees: green papaya salad, crispy tofu, basil mussels, peppery beef, pepper & garlic pork, chicken pad thai, seafood lard na, the special seafood dish, along with some thai iced teas. It was a great menu to satisfy even the pickiest eaters of the bunch. The total for 7 people (4 adults, 2 teens, and 1 child) was $110 after tax & tip (I just paid for the tip, so thanks bro!)

And you know what? This place was also the cure-all to my anti-Thai food attitude of late. I enjoyed the food that much.
